One of my dogs died today, probably from having parasites in his stomach and intestine inflammation. We brought him to the Veterinarian, but didn't work out. I still remember he was walking around yesterday morning when I left the house, and he was starring at me...

Is it me?
Well, today I found a picture at my facebook posted by my cousin. I think he did some photoshop, but I do not know where he got my picture. Does this look like me? I think the guy in the picture is pretty handsome!
Myself???
A day off
I drove to mountain on Sunday with a friend and I couldn't refrain myself from eaten steak in one of the store in Mall San Pedro. Well, I was pretty upset on the Sunday morning, so I called up my friend and I took a day off.
Dish of salad from the grill place.
The main dish. Yummy!
A cow on my way to mountain!
Another lovely pictures of the cow, and I tried to scare them by pressing the horn in the car!! LOL...sorry about it.
I think this is a very good picture of them.
A view from the mountain.
My handsome picture at the top of the mountain =). I think I gain some weight! = (
Another picture at the top of the mountain.

Muscle cramp
I was using computer the other night, and suddenly my muscle in my neck cramped. It caused me neck pain for almost 2 nights and I am still in pain. Therefore, I asked my professor for help and he prescribed me Arcoxia as pain killer and Norflex for relaxing my muscle. The muscle cramp hurt my neck a lot!!!
Anyway, my brother told me there was a case that happened in a train station (and that was real). A patient was chopped off into half by a train and another patient has broken her arm, foot, ribs and the head swallowed like a ball. But at that moment, the doctor only had 1 shot of morphine, so he could only apply it to one patient. The patient who was chopped into half, was still alive, but for sure he would die. So if you were the doctor, who would you apply the morphine to?
My brother chose the patient with broken arms and legs and I chose the one who was chopped of into half. Well, either answer is correct.
*The doctor in that case (the professor of my brother), he chose the one who was chopped into half. The reasoning is medicine is not only saving people, but also concerning patients who are in the end of their lives.

Car parking guy with a tie??
These couple days, I have been fairly busy and I messed up my biological clock. There are a lot of tests, quizzes, homework and work from my job. Well, like usual, it is part of life.
Anyway, today I was in my anatomy class, and I wasn't concentrated because I could see through the windows and knowing what was happening on the street; actually, the design of the classroom was very bad. I saw an old guy wearing tie and was dressed up like going to some kind of conference. He took up a seat, and sat down on the side of the road. I was like, 'What is this guy doing?' Guess what? He was a security guard and he helped out people to park their car. He was very passion-able about his job, I could totally see it just from his behavior. He took out his notebook, recording the car's license number and gave out tickets to cars. When people parked their cars, he surely would be there to help out. I said to myself, a guy wore his tie and dressed up while he was helping people to park their car? Hmmm....Interesting. I gave him my respect and acknowledgment. He really has passion about his job. There are something that worth my time to learn from him.

Yeah! He was the man. The guy on the left hand-side.

Why not me?
These couple days I was annoyed and mad because there were too much challenges and problems going on in my life.
Today, I have read a news about scientists in Japan and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are going to cooperate and will run a Space Solar Power System in the space. Basically that means the Japanese will be able to take energy from the Sun and transfer the energy back from space to the earth and will be able to replace their dependence on oil. So I was thinking, why I am not one of those scientists who will run the great project and why I am not the owner of Mitsubishi. I kept thinking about those questions and then I took a shower. So, some questions came into my mind afterward, and that might explain why. "Have I been working hard? Did I see difficulties and challenges as opportunities to learn and succeed? Am I ready?" So, my answers were "NO!". These are the basic elements to succeed and I have none of them at this moment.
So? I should work hard and be ready for the success. Stop complaining!

A great evening having a dinner at grill restaurant and a sex talk with friends.
Today I went with couple of my friends to Mall San Pedro for a dinner because couple of us have birthday in the same month. So we chose a grill and steak restaurant for dinner. My friends are quite international, one of them are from Colombia who does not eat chicken, one of them is Costa Rican, another one is American born indian, and an American, and me. Another guy is Costa Rican too, but we called him Nica (Nicaraguan) to make our group more diverse.
So I drove some of my friend home afterward, and on my way home, I told my American friend to pay some attention to the corner of the street when we were in San Jose because there were some prostitutes. So I purposely slowed down the car when we saw two prostitutes and my American friend got lust. Afterward, I told him those were guys who dressed up in female clothes to attract psychic guys; my friend felt horrible and disgusting after he knew the truth. I told him that I, being a man, felt same that he got lust by seeing guys!! Well, he said that he wana kick my ass to China. LOL
Grill at the grill places. It has chicken, pork, sausages, beef and Potatoes. Probably the sausage got us started on the sex talk!
Suresh and Paula
The salad at the grill place.
Us as a group!
So Suresh is taking care of the camera now.
After a full dinner, my friends started to talk about sex, something like vibrator, sex toy, Viagra, ejaculation from female and its mechanism, etc. I was surprised by how open minded they are. One of my friends said she would bring us to the sex store and have a sex toy tour. So we followed her by curiosity. She also told us that she usually goes to sex store with her mom!!! I think I am having a culture shock here ^^. The entrance of the sex tour.
Well, after taking one picture, I got stopped by the staff. Really unfortunate that I can't show much to you guys.

A big realization about my own life
Yesterday I have a conversation with my friend about her friend's decision on donating his own body after the end of his life. So I told my friend, as a medical student, I think it is a good idea, but personally, I don't think the body will be respected by students, especially in this country. But, she told me that her friend think his body as a shell, not big deal about it.
So I was thinking, may be after death, spirit will be separated from the body. Or there is no existence of such a thing that we call spirit. Well, I don't know. But what I know is there is a thing that is called mind, and as what I know, body is greatly related to our mind. So it is better to take care of body, and so that we have a greater chance of taking care our mind.
Sometimes, we are thinking too much, especially about life after death, something unknown in the future. Why don't we care something much closer to our life and something that we already known? Just like our body, things around us, or things that we should do today...etc. Yea, something that is closer to us....

Stressful days
I can feel that my body is stressing out lately. Especially when I lost my sleep at night and the dog was barking early in the morning for 4 hours. In the morning, I took a cup of coffee to wake myself up, and in the afternoon, I was already exhausted. Seems like I should do something about my life style and stress.

Digusting Anatomy Lab
I attended my class 7:00 am and went to the anatomy lab for checking out the heart ("corazón" in Spanish). I took a close look at the heart and it was very pale in color (almost appears little bit green). I flipped the heart to other side to take a close look into it, and accidentally I splashed small amount of liquid (probably small amount of formaldehyde and some other preservatives) that came with heart into my pants and book. I was like "Eu...so digusting". So I ran into the restroom and cleaned it out. Afterward, I took another heart for a closer look, and it was quite slippery on its surface.
Anyway, next to the heart, there was a peeled hair skin. So I took a close look into it (because I was curious how does the hair attach to the skin), and at the profound side of the skin, there were some yellowish adipose tissue attached to the skin (adipose tissue = fat) which has thousand of hair follicles attached to the adipose tissue. It was as if I saw thousand of ants walking around a dead body, which means super horrible to me! I was almost vomit at that time. So I left and went home.
I was so tired, so I took a nap, and I had a very bad dream -seeing someone was feeding me with blended frog liquid (it had the same color as the heart -greenish yellow). I woke up with fainting and almost vomit. Anyway, I was very sick, and hope that I can get use to anatomy lab.
By the way, that was not my first anatomy lab, but I found that lab was relatively disgusting compare to others.

The beginning is always hard!
Being a non-Spanish speaking medical student in a Costa Rica, is not easy. I faced much more challenges than other native students, well in term of learning and speaking abilities. Not only the material itself is hard, but learning a new language is always a challenge. However, challenges always make me growth to be a better person.
I found a lot of interesting thing in the process of learning and studying medicine. That's why I want to share with friends and everyone else.
Anyway, I hope this blog can record my growth history as being a medical student, and hopefully couple years later, I can see this blog again with a magic Dr. title.
